Derek Roy – General Manager, Oxford Auto Sales

Derek Roy was born into the automotive business in 1985, just one year after his grandfather and father founded R&R Auto Sales in Durham, Maine. From a young age, he embraced hard work and leadership—qualities that would define his career. In high school, Derek served as captain of the football team, leading a squad predicted to finish last to an undefeated season, proving that determination and teamwork can defy any odds.

After graduation, Derek set out to explore the world, traveling to 16 different countries and visiting nearly every U.S. state on his motorcycle. These adventures shaped his perspective and fueled his entrepreneurial spirit. He later moved to Boston, Massachusetts, for a couple of years to pursue a bodyguard and security career, where he even once found himself in a private circle with the legendary Willie Nelson.

When the ownership of R&R changed hands,and Derek helped smash the goal of selling an impressive 70 units in just one month’s time. Derek struck out on his own, founding RECONS—a full-service auto detailing business with the slogan “Making Them Shine Since 1999.” Operating in Lisbon Falls and three locations in Lewiston, Derek even resurrected an abandoned hand car wash, transforming it into a thriving enterprise once again. Alongside RECONS, he also operated a successful plowing business. He ran both ventures until shortly after the birth of his first son, Brody.

Soon after, Derek joined Pray’s Auto Sales under the mentorship of Steve Pray, gaining valuable insight into another side of the automotive industry. Steve later introduced him to his longtime friend Art Reynolds at Oxford Auto Sales. The connection was instant—Derek and Art worked side by side to revitalize the dealership, making improvements throughout and even constructing a new reconditioning shop behind the lot. This gave Derek the tools and space he needed to raise the bar on quality and service, helping to establish Oxford Auto Sales as Oxford County’s premier pre-owned car dealership (OAS).

Today, Derek has been with Oxford Auto Sales for five years. He resides in Lewiston, Maine, and is the proud father of two young boys who are his world. Outside of work, Derek enjoys riding his Harley-Davidson and cherishing every moment watching his boys grow.
